The American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri Foundation, Inc., (ACLU-MO) seeks a part-time grant funded Organizing Intern for Summer 2025. The Organizing Intern will be assigned to our Organizing Department and work collaboratively across departments on the development of the School-to-Prison Pipeline (STPP) Findings and Recommendations Report and help coordinate and execute a STPP culminating event to present the report to the community at-large.

POSITION OVERVIEW: DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Organizing and in collaboration with the Integrated Advocacy Team, the Organizing Intern will:

  • Plan, coordinate, and widely publicize a community-based event to promote the presentation of our final STPP Findings and Recommendations Report.
  • Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to ensure broad community engagement in the event.
  • Attend, and assist where needed, the culminating project event.
  • Assist with collection of feedback and data to evaluate the effectiveness of the event.
  • Partner with the Communications Intern and Team on STPP project related needs.
  • Assist with the preparation of the final STPP Report.

In addition to the above responsibilities, other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Interest or undergraduate work in community organizing or public policy.
  • Computer literacy, knowledge and ability to proficiently use software and hardware such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and perform internet research.
  • Proficiency with social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, etc.) and remote communication tools (Zoom and Microsoft Teams).
  • Ability to manage projects from start to finish.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, listening skills, ability to solve problems, adapt to change, and empathy for others are required as this position works in teams and within communities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid automobile driver’s license is required as this position requires travel throughout the state. Proof of valid driver’s license is required.

COMPENSATION AND TERMS

This is a part-time, temporary, non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act. This internship is grant funded and the pay is $18 per hour/20 hours per week.
