Monica Haines joined the ACLU of Missouri as a Graphic Designer in February 2023. Her responsibilities include creating visual assets to increase access and accessibility to key messages through digital and print medias.
In the spring of 2022, Monica graduated Webster University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and a certificate in Illustration. She was previously a graphic design intern at Abstract Marketing Group, where she assisted their creative team in designing marketing materials for different clients. In her downtime, she enjoys painting, working on art projects, cooking, listening to music, watching documentaries, and spending time with her loved ones and pets.
Throughout Monica’s studies at Webster University, she became passionate about representation and inclusivity in art and design. In many of her projects, she focuses on her experiences as a woman and a second generation American, as well as the experiences of those around her. One class that opened her perspective on inclusive design was Design for Good, which focused on creating projects that expressed the creator’s own trials, as well as the struggles of others. It also looked at how designing with others in mind can create solutions that go beyond expectations. In her designs, she incorporates accurate representations and messages that have a clear understanding for all. She is passionate about using design to create a positive impact for others.
Monica is eager to work on projects that extend the ACLU of Missouri’s outreach, as well as build their brand and image.
