Tom Bastian joined the ACLU of Missouri in March 2022 as the Deputy Director for Communications in the Kansas City office.
Before joining the ACLU, Tom worked on the Protect Our Care Missouri campaign to increase awareness and engagement among Missourians to protect the benefits provided by the Affordable Care Act. Tom also served as the Communications Director for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. Most recently, Tom worked for a Kansas City-area digital marketing agency as the Website Project Manager.
Prior to completing his degree, Tom enlisted to serve in the United States Army. His time in service included one deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He achieved the rank of Sergeant in under three years.
After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Tom attended the University of Central Missouri where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations.
