Josephine Goode is retired System Chief Risk Officer for SSM Health. In this role, she was responsible for leading and directing the systems’ enterprise wide risk management programs and services, including key business, clinical and operational risk management and loss prevention initiatives, commercial insurance analysis and procurement, alternative risk financing, insurance administration, third party administrative management, HPL/GL claims and litigation management, self-insured and commercial worker’s compensation and employee safety programs. Additionally, she provides administrative oversight of the SSMHC Self-Insured HPL/GL and Workers Compensation Trusts and SSMHC’s offshore SSMHC Captive Insurance Company.  
 
Her broad range of experience and in-depth expertise in developing and implementing creative risk management strategies, programs and risk financing solutions, in a multitude of settings, to integrated delivery systems, has led to national and international recognition, as an innovative and visionary leader in the field of healthcare risk management and insurance. 
 
Ms. Goode has over 25 years of experience in healthcare administration, strategic risk management and insurance.  She is a registered nurse in the state of Maryland and the founder of the Maryland Society for Healthcare Risk Management, serving two terms as president. Prior to joining SSM Health, Ms. Goode Evans was president and CEO of InnoVisions International, Inc. (IVI), a healthcare risk management consulting firm specializing in managing the strategic, clinical, business and operational risks associated with healthcare delivery. 
 
She has served on numerous committees and task forces of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) and the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS).  She has achieved the designation of Fellow in ASHRM, in recognition of outstanding achievements in the field. In 1990, she was appointed to Business Insurance Magazine’s Risk Managers’ Honor Roll. Ms. Goode has published numerous juried articles and chapter texts, and lectured extensively to both national and international audiences on a variety of healthcare risk management subjects.   
 
Since relocating to St. Louis, her outstanding professional achievements have been recognized by the St. Louis Business Journal as one of the “Most Influential Minority Business Leaders." She also received the "National Risk Innovator Award in Health Care" from Risk and Insurance Magazine.
 
She is equally passionate about community service. In 2014, she was awarded the National Council of Negro Women Inc. Legacy Award, in appreciation of Outstanding Community Service. She is a member of the Archway Chapter, Links Incorporated and is actively engaged in their community service initiatives.  She is also a member of the Board of Directors of College Bound, most recently serving as chair of Governance and Nominations Committee.
